Nova Iguaçu launches Arena de Lazer Light on Via Light

The Arena de Lazer Light launched on Sunday, September 27, 2026, transforming a section of Via Light in central Nova Iguaçu into a free public space for sports, culture, and health. The initiative is a partnership between the Nova Iguaçu City Hall and the company Light.

Every Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the area between Oscar Soares and Coronel Francisco Soares streets will host various activities. The inaugural day featured walking and running groups, functional training, and dance. Younger participants had access to an 'Arena Gamer', inflatable recreation, a skate park, and other free activities.

Mayor Dudu Reina emphasized that the space serves as a community hub for families and friends to enjoy a lighter routine. The program also includes a local producers' market to support the community.
