Nova Iguaçu opens registration for Mamãe Presente maternity project

Pregnant women in Nova Iguaçu can register for the ‘Mamãe Presente’ project until Thursday, October 8. Managed by the Municipal Secretariat of Social Assistance (SEMAS), the initiative is open to women of all ages from the 12th week of pregnancy.

As part of the Protected Early Childhood Social Assistance Program (PIPAS), the project provides support, maternity guidance, and monitoring throughout pregnancy. Participants attend four meetings featuring discussions and lectures on pregnancy, infant care, and strengthening family bonds. Upon completing the meetings, participants receive a kit containing a bag with baby clothes, hygiene products, and a bathtub, as well as a maternity photo shoot.

For women in advanced stages of pregnancy who cannot attend in person, the Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS) offers an intensive modality that includes online components. The support continues after birth through the PIPAS program to ensure ongoing social protection for the family.
