Nova Londrina industrial accident leaves teenager in critical condition
A 17-year-old worker is in critical condition after being struck by a 500-kilogram piece of hardware at an industrial facility in Nova Londrina, Paraná. The accident occurred on Monday at a company specializing in materials for road network production located near the BR-376 highway.
The heavy object fell on the teenager's back, causing him to lose consciousness immediately. Due to the severity of the injuries, he was rescued by an aeromedical helicopter and transported to the Hospital Universitário de Maringá (HUM).
Preliminary medical assessments by the Emergency Mobile Care Service (SAMU) indicated severe injuries to the lumbar region of the spine, with a potential spinal cord injury and initial signs of paraplegia. Further diagnostic imaging at the hospital is required to confirm the full extent of the trauma. Because the victim is a minor, the hospital has not released specific public updates regarding his clinical status.
