NOVA Medical School launches AI and digital health training initiatives

NOVA Medical School has launched the Health & AI Academy (HAIA), a training initiative focused on artificial intelligence and digital transformation in clinical practice. The program begins in November with a postgraduate course in Digital Transformation in Health – Leadership of Digital Health Systems. This curriculum consists of 15 micro-credentials that can be completed sequentially or individually, covering topics such as AI for clinical decision support, data protection, medical technology security, and HealthTech innovation.

Additionally, the institution has won a European competition to lead a new Erasmus Mundus master's program in “Artificial Intelligence Applied to Medicine,” scheduled to begin in the 2028/29 academic year. In partnership with Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona and Maastricht University, the program aims to bridge the gap between laboratory AI results and safe implementation in real-world hospital environments. The curriculum is designed to train professionals to manage the full development cycle of technology, from detecting micro-changes in diagnostic exams to creating digital twins of organs.
