Nova Power & Gas faces legal dispute over electricity disconnection
A legal dispute involving the energy supplier Nova Power & Gas has escalated to the High Court of Cassation and Justice in Romania. The conflict began when Ion Criveanu, a resident of Burdălești, Vâlcea, received a disconnection notice for an alleged debt of 332.60 lei. Criveanu maintains he had already paid 276 lei, covering his bills for March and April 2026, leaving a discrepancy of less than 30 lei.
Criveanu sought an emergency injunction to prevent the disconnection of his electricity supply while the case is adjudicated. The supplier, owned by the Mureșan brothers from Cluj, has previously faced a 100 million lei fine for energy market manipulation and is involved in various large-scale state contracts and nuclear reactor negotiations.
