Nova Scotia police probe fatal fires in Cape Breton and Antigonish

Cape Breton Regional Police are investigating a fire that destroyed a residence at Macadam’s Lake on July 24. A deceased person was found at the scene, and the fire had not been reported to emergency services. The investigation remains ongoing, with the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service and the Office of the Fire Marshal involved.

Separately, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Nova Scotia are seeking video footage and witnesses related to a homicide investigation in Antigonish County. The case is linked to a series of residential fires on May 31, including one in Upper Big Tracadie where a man was found dead. The death was ruled a homicide, and investigators are focusing on a silver 2010 Hyundai Accent seen in the area. The RCMP continue to canvass for evidence and appeal to the public for information.
