Nova TV launches HEJTi! podcast to address hate speech
Nova TV has launched a new socially responsible project titled ‘HEJTi!’, which aims to foster open dialogue regarding hate speech, its various forms, and its impact on society. The initiative seeks to promote a safer and more responsible public space by exploring the boundaries between freedom of expression, criticism, and insults.
A central component of the project is the ‘HEJTi!’ podcast, hosted by Mia Kovačić alongside rhetoric and communication expert Gabrijela Kišiček from the University of Zagreb. The podcast features prominent public figures discussing their personal experiences with communication challenges and the limits of acceptable discourse.
The first guest for the podcast is Jadranka Kosor, the former Prime Minister of Croatia. Kosor will discuss her experiences in public life, specifically addressing issues such as sexism, personal attacks, and insults, as well as identifying hate speech that may be disguised as jokes or compliments. One of the long-term goals of the initiative is to encourage the development of a national strategy to combat hate speech.
