In his new documentary, ‘The Wolf in the Winter’, tennis player Novak Djokovic addresses his controversial decision to decline the COVID-19 vaccine. The athlete argues that his choice was based on personal health and biological logic, stating that as a healthy elite athlete who had already contracted the virus, he possessed natural immunity and did not see the necessity for inoculation.

Djokovic frames his decision as a matter of fundamental human rights and personal autonomy. He asserts, “It is my freedom to choose, and that fundamental right was taken away from many people.”

The documentary also revisits the 2022 incident in Australia, where his visa was canceled by border authorities despite having a medical exemption approved by Tennis Australia and the state of Victoria. This led to his temporary detention at the Park Hotel in Melbourne.
