Novak Djokovic was penalised by the Wimbledon tournament for using audible profanity during his round‑of‑16 match against Roman Safiullin. The disciplinary panel imposed a $7,500 (approximately £5,600) fine for "audible obscenity" after he shouted expletives in Serbian and later struck a ball in frustration.

The fine is part of a broader list of penalties issued by Wimbledon officials, which also included similar sanctions of £5,600 to several other players for comparable language or equipment‑related breaches during the tournament.

Djokovic, who later continued his campaign, acknowledged he was not proud of his behaviour. The incident echoes a previous controversy at the 2020 US Open when he was disqualified after a ball‑throwing incident that struck a line judge.
