Additionally, decades of physical strain have led to stiffer tendons and cumulative degenerative changes in joints and muscles.
Following his early exit from the US Open, speculation regarding Djokovic's retirement has increased. Former player Sam Querrey suggested that 2027 could be the athlete's final year on tour. However, other former players, including Steve Johnson, pointed to Djokovic's stated goal of competing in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
