Novak Djokovic advances to Wimbledon semifinal to face Jannik Sinner after epic quarterfinal

Novak Djokovic survived a five‑hour, 15‑minute marathon to defeat Canada’s Felix Auger‑Aliassime 7‑6(10), 3‑6, 6‑3, 6‑7(4), 7‑6(10‑4), setting a new record for the longest Wimbledon quarter‑final. The win gave the 39‑year‑old Serbian his eighth consecutive Wimbledon semifinal, his 15th at the All England Club and his 55th Grand Slam semifinal, extending his match‑win record and making him the oldest player to reach the last four since 1974.

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner overcame Germany’s Jan‑Lennard Struff in straight sets 7‑5, 7‑6(4), 6‑3 in about two and a half hours, securing his third Wimbledon semifinal and the 10th of his career. The Italian, defending champion, said he had worked hard after his early loss at Roland Garros and felt comfortable on the grass.

The two victors will clash in Friday’s semifinal, a high‑profile meeting that could see Djokovic chase a 25th Grand Slam title and an eighth Wimbledon crown while Sinner aims to defend his title.
