Novak Djokovic warns heat impact as he trains for Wimbledon 2026

Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic held a press conference ahead of Wimbledon, which runs from 29 June to 12 July 2026 in London. He noted that the current week has been the hottest of his 20‑year Wimbledon experience, saying the high temperature softens the grass and changes the ball’s behaviour – “the balls become larger and fuzzier, slowing the game”. Djokovic expects the weather to cool slightly when the tournament begins.

He also commented on his preparation, highlighting a sparring session with world No. 1 Jannik Sinner on Centre Court 1, and emphasized the cordial relationship between the rivals. In the same briefing he spoke about his children’s limited exposure to smartphones and artificial intelligence, describing it as a “challenge for parents”. Djokovic also praised Serena Williams, describing her return to the tour as “inspirational” and “historic”. He is seeded seventh and aims for another Grand Slam title.
