Novak Djokovic defeats Nuno Borges at China Open

Novak Djokovic secured his first victory since Wimbledon by defeating Portugal’s Nuno Borges in the opening round of the ATP 500 China Open in Beijing. Djokovic won in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6(2), marking his 30th consecutive win at this tournament and maintaining his undefeated record in Beijing.

Despite the win, the 39-year-old Serbian player faced physical challenges during the match. Djokovic requested a medical time-out due to abdominal discomfort and experienced breathing difficulties during the second set. However, he managed to maintain his composure and secured the victory in a tie-break.

This tournament marks Djokovic’s first appearance in Beijing in 11 years. Following this win, he is scheduled to face Chinese player Bu Yunchaokete in the second round.
