Novak Djokovic exits ATP top 10, ending Big Three era

The ATP rankings following the 2026 US Open mark a historic shift in men's tennis. For the first time since October 2002, none of the ‘Big Three’—Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, or Novak Djokovic—appear in the world top 10.

Novak Djokovic fell from fifth to 12th place following his first-round loss at the US Open to Mariano Navone. This exit concludes a 24-year era where at least one member of the legendary trio remained in the top 10. With Federer and Nadal having already retired, Djokovic was the final active member of the group to exit the top tier.

Jannik Sinner remains the world number one, though his lead has narrowed. Alexander Zverev moved into second place after winning the US Open title, defeating Ben Shelton in the final. Shelton achieved a career-high ranking of fourth. Other notable movements include Carlos Alcaraz holding the third position and the emergence of a highly competitive middle tier in the top 10.
