Novak Djokovic's Wimbledon loss fuels retirement speculation

Novak Djokovic was defeated 3‑0 in the Wimbledon semi‑final by Jannik Sinner, ending his hopes of a 25th Grand Slam title. After the loss Djokovic said he felt disappointed and highlighted the high expectations he places on himself. He travelled to the Montenegrin coast for rest before the US Open.

Former Wimbledon champion Pet Keš commented that at 39 years old Djokovic’s body is under growing strain and suggested the tournament may have been his last realistic chance to win another major. Keš noted the marathon quarter‑final against Félix Auger‑Aliassime and questioned whether Djokovic can compete at the highest level for much longer, though he stopped short of calling for an immediate retirement.
