Novara: Woman found dead in irrigation canal

The body of a 74-year-old woman was discovered in an irrigation canal in Novara on Tuesday, August 11. The deceased, who suffered from Alzheimer's, had been missing since Friday afternoon.

The body was found along the left bank of the Agogna stream, in the area between Torrion Quartara and Lumellogno. An agricultural worker discovered the body while checking water flow following the restoration of irrigation services, which had been suspended due to drought.

Emergency responders, including the Novara provincial fire department's specialized SAF unit and Carabinieri, recovered the body. A pair of shoes believed to belong to the woman was found near the site. Authorities are conducting medical-legal examinations and investigations to determine the circumstances of her death.
