Novara's Mercato Coperto recognized as historical commerce site
The Piedmont Region has officially recognized the Mercato Coperto in Novara as a historical site of commerce. This designation follows an initiative by the Municipality of Novara to highlight the market's cultural and economic importance.
Operating since 1939, the market has served as a central hub for social and economic life in the city for over eighty years. The regional recognition is based on the continuity of commercial activities, the preservation of its original architectural characteristics, and the maintenance of traditional product types. The documentation used to support this request was compiled with assistance from the State Archives, tracing the structure's evolution from its inception through various redevelopment phases.
