Nova.rs unions protest dismissal of editor Mihailo Jovićević

The unions representing the news portal Nova.rs and the weekly Radar, members of the KUM Nezavisnost union, have expressed deep concern regarding the dismissal of Mihailo Jovićević as editor-in-chief of Nova.rs. The decision was made by the management of Adria News Network.

Jovićević was previously removed from his position as director at United Media Digital just one month prior to this dismissal. The union noted that the change occurs at a time when Nova.rs is experiencing its highest level of success, having recently ranked among the top three most visited portals in Serbia according to Gemius audience measurements.

The union expressed apprehension that this leadership change is taking place at the onset of a challenging election campaign. While the departure was described as a mutual agreement, the union suggested that the underlying motivation for the dismissal could be political, citing a pattern of leadership changes within ANN's media outlets in Serbia.
