November 2 observances include All Souls' Day and journalist protection

November 2 marks several significant international and national observances. In religious traditions, particularly within the Catholic Church, All Souls' Day is observed to pray for the souls of the deceased. This tradition was formally established in the 11th century by Saint Odilo of Cluny, who directed Benedictine monasteries to pray for souls in purgatory on this date.

On an international level, the United Nations observes the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, a resolution passed in 2013 following the murder of two French journalists in Mali. This day aims to raise awareness regarding the safety of media workers.

In Indonesia, November 2 is also recognized as the anniversary of the Analog Switch Off (ASO), a milestone in the country's transition from analog to digital television broadcasting initiated by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics in 2022.
