Novendra Priasmoro wins Jakarta Governor's Cup chess championship

Grand Master Novendra Priasmoro won the open category at the 2026 Governor of DKI Jakarta Cup Regional Championship (Kejurda), held at The Tavia Heritage Hotel on October 3–4. The event featured 420 chess players competing across 17 categories. Claudio Lasama secured second place, while Satria Duta Cahaya finished third.

Hardiyanto Kenneth, Chairman of Percasi DKI Jakarta, stated that the tournament served as a selection process for the upcoming 2026 National Chess Championship (Kejurnas) in Banten, scheduled for October 23–29. As the defending overall champions, Jakarta officials expressed optimism that the results from this regional event will provide the necessary momentum to maintain their title at the national level.

The championship also focused on athlete regeneration and long-term development from junior to senior levels. During the closing ceremony, six regional administrative boards of Percasi were inaugurated to expand access to training for beginners and children.
