Novi Sad and Samarkand sign cooperation agreement

Novi Sad Mayor Zarko Micun and Khursidbek Samiev, Deputy Governor of the Samarkand region in Uzbekistan, signed a Letter of Intent to establish cooperation between the cities of Novi Sad and Samarkand.

The agreement aims to foster development in several sectors, including economy and investment, science and education, health, tourism, sports, culture, and art. The meeting included members of the City Council and representatives from two Uzbek companies to discuss specific joint projects.

Mayor Micun noted that the cooperation follows strong bilateral relations between Serbia and Uzbekistan, highlighted by recent high-level diplomatic visits. He emphasized the potential for connection between Novi Sad, a European Capital of Culture, and Samarkand, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
