Novi Sad announces 20,000 dinar aid for low-income pensioners
Novi Sad Mayor Žarko Mićin has announced a budget rebalance that includes a one-time financial aid payment of 20,000 dinars for pensioners with incomes below the minimum level. This assistance is expected to be distributed by the end of October.
The budget rebalance, which is over 300 million dinars larger than the previous one, also aims to support the Public Urban Transport Company 'Novi Sad' to ensure its smooth operation. Additionally, the city is planning infrastructure improvements, including the return of 'Soko' trains to the Petrovaradin station starting October 19, and new housing purchase conditions.
On a national level, Serbian citizens can access state subsidies for energy-efficient home renovations. Programs cover the replacement of windows, doors, insulation, and heating systems, with socially vulnerable households eligible for support covering up to 90 percent of the costs.
In Belgrade, plans are underway to expand consumption-based heating billing to an additional 30 percent of residential buildings, primarily targeting energy-inefficient structures.
