Novi Sad implements new Majevica heating plant

Novi Sad has implemented a new heating plant, ‘Majevica’, marking the city's first new heating facility in over 40 years. Launched in December of last year, the plant is currently providing heating and hot water to approximately 7,000 households, with a total planned capacity to serve up to 20,000 households.

According to Ivana Stanimirović, spokesperson for JKP ‘Novosadska toplana’, Majevica serves as the fifth heating plant and seventh heat source in the city's district heating system. The facility was deemed necessary due to urban expansion and the growing number of users. It currently supplies areas north of Bulevar vojvode Stepe, including Stara Detelinara, Avijatičarsko naselje, and Jugovićevo.

The plant is described as a modern, highly efficient system built to high environmental protection standards. This development follows a total investment of approximately 150 million euros in the Novi Sad heating system to date.
