Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev have established a strategic partnership during Mirziyoyev’s first official visit to Belgrade. The leaders signed 20 bilateral agreements covering diverse sectors, including trade, transport, energy, digitalization, biotechnology, and labor mobility.

Economic cooperation between the two nations has seen significant growth. Bilateral trade reached a record 41.9 million dollars in 2025, representing a 27 percent increase from 2024. Notably, Serbian agricultural and food exports to Uzbekistan rose by 54.1 percent in the first seven months of 2026. To further bolster these ties, a working group has been formed to prepare for a future bilateral free trade agreement.

Diplomatic relations are also advancing, with officials confirming that final steps are being taken to open a Serbian embassy in Uzbekistan. The visit also emphasized cooperation within international frameworks, such as the Non-Aligned Movement, which Uzbekistan is set to chair from 2027 to 2029.
