Novi teatar opens in Sarajevo with premiere of The Seagull

The Novi teatar (New Theater) has officially opened at the International Center for Games, Culture, Art and Youth (ICIKUM) in Novo Sarajevo. The opening was marked by a premiere performance of Anton Chekhov’s “The Seagull,” directed by Selma Spahić.

The production received standing ovations from the audience, which included various regional and international guests, including actors, writers, and theater directors. The new venue is intended to serve as a space for contemporary theater, artistic research, and new productions, aiming to foster connections between different generations of artists.

Following the premiere, scheduled encore performances of “The Seagull” will take place throughout September.
