Novig launches national US sports prediction market as FanDuel reshapes CME partnership
Novig received Designated Contract Market status from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission and announced a nationwide launch of its sports prediction platform. The company highlighted enhanced live trading, greater liquidity, stricter surveillance against manipulation, and a minimum age of 21 for users. Co‑founder and CEO Jacob Fortinsky called the rollout a “fundamental step” and noted the platform has already processed over $6 billion in trade volume.
Meanwhile, FanDuel and CME Group are revising their joint‑venture. All sports‑related bets on the FanDuel Predicts app will be executed through Crypto.com’s Nadex exchange, while CME will handle only non‑sports contracts. CME retains a 51% equity stake in the venture. The change was disclosed in Flutter Entertainment’s earnings report, which also announced CEO Peter Jackson’s departure and a drop in the company’s share price. CME continues to process single‑event sports wagers but is seeking regulatory approval for futures tied to team performance indexes.
