Novo Hamburgo Mayor outlines zero-fare bus plan and flood prevention

Novo Hamburgo Mayor Gustavo Finck has announced a timeline for implementing a zero-fare bus system in the city. The initiative is scheduled to begin in 2027, with full implementation expected by 2028. Finck noted that the city currently subsidizes more than 52% of bus fares.

In addition to transportation, the Mayor addressed flood prevention measures, including the renovation of the pump house in the Santo Afonso neighborhood. Finck stated he is seeking R$ 800 million from the state government for infrastructure projects, such as raising the Santo Afonso dike and constructing two new pump houses.
