Novo Nordisk advances share buybacks and AI research partnership
Novo Nordisk is advancing its share buyback program, having repurchased approximately 28.9 million B-shares between February 4 and August 14. The total transaction value for these shares amounts to roughly 8.08 billion Danish kroner, part of a broader buyback initiative totaling up to 15 billion kroner.
In legal developments, a court in The Hague issued an injunction against Ceban Ziekenhuisfarmacie B. V., prohibiting the immediate sale of a compounded Semaglutide nasal spray that was found to infringe upon Novo Nordisk’s intellectual property rights. The company holds supplementary protection certificates in the Netherlands that extend patent protection for Semaglutide until March 19, 2031.
Additionally, Novo Nordisk has entered a strategic partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to accelerate drug research using artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure. The companies have established a joint innovation hub in London to facilitate this collaboration.
