Novo Nordisk Italy Calls for Unified Action on Obesity

Jens Pii Olesen, General Manager and Vice President of Novo Nordisk Italy, delivered a video message at the eighth Italian Barometer Obesity Forum in Rome. He warned that obesity "influences over 200 diseases" and is a major contributor to cardiovascular deaths, urging that the issue be taken seriously to improve global health.

Olesen highlighted that Italy has about 6 million obese adults and one of the highest obesity rates among children and adolescents, cautioning that the problem could worsen as today’s youth age. Novo Nordisk, with more than 30 years of research and development in obesity, said its responsibility extends beyond treatment to collaboration on prevention, care and post‑treatment support, and called for a coordinated effort from all stakeholders.
