Novo Progresso steps up traffic enforcement over motorcycle stunts

On Tuesday, authorities in Novo Progresso, Pará, Brazil, intensified joint traffic enforcement operations after complaints about dangerous motorcycle stunts known as “grau” and noise pollution. Lieutenant Colonel Gama of the 46th Military Police Battalion met with the director of the municipal traffic department (DITRANP) to coordinate actions, including stricter checks on illegal maneuvers, sound‑producing vehicles, and under‑age drivers, with support from the local guardianship council.

Later that evening, during a barrier operation on Avenida Jamanxim, a man identified as Edipo Ferreira do Nascimento insulted and threatened DITRANP agent Leandro Cruz Souza while police were removing his Honda CG Fan motorcycle. The suspect was detained by the Military Police and taken to the civil police station for further investigation.
