Novo Selo Training Area identified as vital NATO resource

The U.S. Army has identified the Novo Selo Training Area (NSTA) in Bulgaria as a critical and highly efficient training platform for NATO's eastern flank. The facility is noted for its ability to foster military readiness, NATO unity, and community partnerships.

Strategically located, the training area provides 3,700 acres of maneuver space where shooting ranges, gunnery complexes, and maneuver zones are closely situated. This proximity allows units to conduct intensive training, including live-fire exercises with tanks, Bradley vehicles, and 155mm artillery, without the time and cost associated with long-distance troop movements.

The site also hosts a NATO multinational battlegroup, with Italy serving as a framework nation. Military leaders emphasize that the facility facilitates the development of integrated multinational forces and builds mutual trust among allies. Additionally, the training area supports the local economy, providing employment for over 300 residents in the Sliven region.
