Novopan implements circular economy practices in Ecuador
In Ecuador, the company Novopan is integrating environmental conservation into its industrial management through circular economy practices, energy efficiency, and responsible forest management.
The company incorporates up to 50% recycled material, recovered wood, and wood byproducts into its particleboard manufacturing process. This approach utilizes sawdust, scraps, and pallets to reduce waste and extend resource utility.
Regarding energy consumption, Novopan uses biomass from wood remnants, such as bark, to generate thermal energy. Currently, 85% of the thermal energy used in its drying processes is derived from renewable sources, reducing reliance on fossil fuels. The company also relies on wood from renewable forest plantations rather than primary forests to ensure responsible production cycles.
