Novorizontino secures historic first promotion to Brasileirão Série A

Grêmio Novorizontino has achieved its first-ever promotion to the Brazilian top flight, Série A, following a 2-1 comeback victory against Fortaleza in the 37th round of Série B. Despite an early red card for Nicolas Careca, the São Paulo-based club rallied with goals from Matheus Bianqui and Luís Oyama to secure their place in the 2027 elite division.

The match was highly contentious, featuring multiple ejections. After Novorizontino equalized, Fortaleza also saw players Lucas Emanoel and Tomás Cardona sent off, leaving the visitors with nine men. The win brings Novorizontino to 70 points, mathematically guaranteeing their promotion and maintaining their lead in the standings.

In other Série B action, Vila Nova defeated Criciúma 1-0 with a goal from Marquinhos Gabriel. This victory keeps Vila Nova in third place with 66 points, leaving them with a mathematical chance for direct promotion if they win their final match and Juventude fails to secure results in the last round.
