Novosella faces depopulation due to poor infrastructure
The village of Novosella in the Bogovinë Municipality is facing significant depopulation due to a lack of investment and deteriorating infrastructure. Once home to approximately 290 houses, the village now only hosts about 100 families.
Rizvan Islami, the local community leader, stated that the narrow and damaged road connecting the village to the main highway is driving migration. Residents face dangerous conditions, particularly during winter due to snow and ice, often requiring expensive 4x4 vehicle transport for emergencies. The area is also prone to landslides.
While some measures have been taken to clear debris and widen parts of the route, the Bogovinë Municipality has announced that the reconstruction of the first kilometer of the road is expected to begin next year.
