Nowy Sącz authorities propose closing four municipal kindergartens

The city authorities of Nowy Sącz have prepared draft resolutions to begin the formal procedure for liquidating four of its eighteen municipal kindergartens. The proposed closures target facilities located on Barbackiego, Szujskiego, Krakowska, and Sucharskiego streets. This plan would affect over 22 percent of the city's municipal kindergartens, including the oldest facility which has operated continuously since 1945.

The municipal administration cites demographic shifts, a declining number of children attending municipal kindergartens, and an increase in vacant spots as primary reasons for the proposal. The city also aims to reduce expenditures. If the resolutions are adopted by the City Council, the process will move forward to include notifying parents and the Małopolska Superintendent of Education. The planned cessation of activities for these facilities is set for August 31, 2027.
