Nowy Tomyśl hosts World Wicker and Weaving Festival 2026

The sixth World Wicker and Weaving Festival is taking place in Nowy Tomyśl, Greater Poland, from September 3 to 6, 2026. Centered around the Museum of Basketry and Hop-Growing and surrounding public areas, the event aims to connect regional craft traditions with international exchange.

Representatives from 66 countries are participating in this edition. The program features the seventh International Wicker-Weaving Competition, various exhibitions, and a master school for experienced weavers. To encourage public engagement, the festival includes workshops under the theme ‘Anyone Can Weave,’ allowing visitors to learn techniques and interact with natural materials.

The festival serves to bridge the gap between historical preservation and contemporary design, presenting basketry as a living practice rather than a static museum display.
