Munetaka Murakami of the Chicago White Sox has made MLB history by becoming the first Japanese-born player to hit 30 home runs in his debut season. He reached the milestone with a two-run homer against the Minnesota Twins, joining an elite group of Japanese players—Shohei Ohtani, Hideki Matsui, and Seiya Suzuki—who have recorded 30-home run seasons.

Murakami’s achievement follows a period of relative silence where he went 74 plate appearances without a home run. Despite a low batting average of .211, his power remains significant, characterized by a high strikeout rate and high walk rate.

Separately, Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani has missed four consecutive starting lineups due to physical ailments, including left knee pain, right upper arm tension, and neck discomfort. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts indicated that Ohtani is progressing well in hitting practice and suggested he could return to the lineup as early as September 7, provided his condition remains stable.
