Jakarta reports container fire at NPCT1 and residential blaze in Kebayoran Lama

Two separate fire incidents occurred in Jakarta, Indonesia, involving a major shipping terminal and a residential area.

On Monday, September 21, 2026, a fire involving dangerous goods containers broke out at the New Priok Container Terminal One (NPCT1), part of the Pelindo Group. The fire was reported at 15:28 WIB and extinguished by 16:27 WIB. No casualties or injuries were reported. NPCT1 management stated that emergency procedures were activated immediately to prioritize personnel safety and area security, and operational activities have begun to recover gradually.

Separately, a large fire struck the Kebayoran Lama area in South Jakarta on the night of September 22, 2026. The blaze destroyed 18 houses and four business premises, covering an area of approximately 1,205 square meters. Authorities estimate the financial losses at Rp1.2 billion. The fire, which reportedly affected around 150 people, is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit or a stove left unattended. Displaced residents have been moved to temporary shelters provided by the local government.
