NPFL Matchday 2: Kano Pillars defeat Niger Tornadoes as Plateau United win

In the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Kano Pillars secured a 3-2 victory against Niger Tornadoes at the Sani Abacha Stadium. Goals from Ubong Friday and Fabian Nworie gave Pillars an early advantage, with Nworie scoring again to extend the lead to 3-0 before Niger Tornadoes responded with goals from Godfrey Joseph and Wasiu Jimoh.

In other matchday two action, Plateau United earned their first win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Kwara United, courtesy of a goal by Alex Aghahowa. Nasarawa United also secured a 1-0 win against Bendel Insurance, while Kun Khalifat FC and Barau FC played to a 0-0 draw.

Following Kwara United’s season opener, goalkeeper coach Dele Aiyenugba expressed confidence in new Malian signing Khalifa Quattara. Quattara made his debut during the 2-2 draw against Kano Pillars, and Aiyenugba believes the goalkeeper possesses the necessary qualities to adapt quickly to the Nigerian top flight.
