NPO Kaze Terrace to host lecture on youth involvement in nightlife industry

NPO Kaze Terrace, an organization providing free consultation services for sex workers, will host a lecture on November 22, 2026, in Minato, Tokyo, and via online archive. The event, titled ‘When You Realize Your Child is in the Night World,’ is designed for families and supporters of young people who have become involved in the nightlife industry, including concept cafes, host clubs, and sex work.

The lecture aims to address the rising trend of youth entering the nightlife sector due to financial pressures from excessive ‘oshi-katsu’ (fan activities) and social isolation. Psychiatrist Toshihiko Matsumoto, an expert in drug addiction and self-harm, will discuss the underlying issues of isolation and various forms of dependency. Additionally, Reia Tokuda, a lawyer and chairperson of Kaze Terrace, will address the social structures and real-world difficulties faced by these youths and their families.
