NPO manager Menno de Boer suspended over explicit photo in staff chat
Menno de Boer, a 47‑year‑old manager at the Dutch public broadcaster NPO, was suspended after sending an unsolicited explicit photograph of his genitals in a group messaging app used by colleagues. NPO confirmed the suspension and said an independent external bureau is investigating the incident.
De Boer, appointed in April as content manager for the “New Generations” division, previously served as a radio‑DJ, talent coach and station manager for NPO 3FM. The broadcaster said it is taking the allegations very seriously, citing privacy concerns and the need to await the investigation’s findings before making further statements. The case follows a 2024 report on workplace safety at NPO that highlighted a culture of sexism and inappropriate behavior, including the unsolicited sharing of nude images.
NPO’s media director Jurre Bosman emphasized that the organization will speak with all parties involved and will act based on the external investigation’s outcome.
