NPP condemns unfair treatment of promoted teachers in Upper East
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ghana’s Upper East Region has condemned the treatment of teachers following the 2025 Ghana Education Service (GES) promotion examinations. The party is calling for the immediate correction of errors in promotion letters and the full payment of outstanding arrears.
According to a statement by Regional Communication Director Dr. Samuel Akonga, teachers who sat for examinations on December 31, 2025, waited until April 2026 for results. The NPP expressed concern over reports that the GES is calculating promotion arrears starting from July 2026 rather than April 2026, which would deny teachers financial benefits for the intervening months.
Additionally, the party highlighted serious inaccuracies in issued promotion letters, noting that some documents contain incorrect names, employment details, and school or district assignments. The NPP has urged the government and the GES to rectify these errors and ensure teachers receive their legitimate entitlements.
