NPP denies plans to replace Alexander Afenyo-Markin as Minority Leader

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially denied rumors suggesting a leadership shuffle within its parliamentary minority group. NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua stated that the party's executive ranks have held no meetings or deliberations regarding the replacement of Alexander Afenyo-Markin as Minority Leader.

Kodua accused individuals of spreading misinformation to create division within the caucus. He affirmed that the national executive committee is satisfied with the performance of Afenyo-Markin and his frontbench team, expressing full support for their continued leadership as the party prepares for the 2028 elections.

Supporting this stance, Deputy Minority Leader Patricia Appiagyei defended Afenyo-Markin’s record, citing his wisdom, intelligence, and honesty. She noted that he has utilized personal resources to provide training for caucus members to improve their parliamentary performance. Appiagyei warned that any attempt to remove him would face significant public opposition.
