NPP leader Sniawbhalang Dhar denies party shift to BJP
National People's Party (NPP) National Vice-President and Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar has affirmed that the party will maintain its political identity and will not switch affiliations to the BJP. Speaking at a campaign event in Mawryngkneng for Lok Sabha bypoll candidate Dr. DRL Nonglait, Dhar addressed rumors regarding NPP MLAs potentially joining the BJP.
Dhar stated that the NPP remains committed to the principles under which voters elected its leaders, asserting, “NPP does not betray the public.” He clarified that while the NPP and BJP cooperate on development initiatives, the NPP maintains its own distinct political principles.
Additionally, Dhar addressed concerns regarding state debt, noting that government borrowing is strictly governed by established financial rules and guidelines. He concluded by emphasizing that political issues should be resolved through legislative discussion rather than street protests.
