Nóra Ritók receives Hungarian Order of Merit

Nóra Ritók, founder of the Igazgyöngy Foundation, has received the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary. The award recognizes her work combating child poverty in eastern Hungary and her efforts as an educator.

Ritók stated that she has no desire to take on a political role within the government, noting that her health and her preference for field work drive her decision to remain focused on helping disadvantaged families. She expressed that social division and political conflict hinder real progress, though she noted that recent government measures, such as school start-of-year support, have provided direct relief to those in need.

Reflecting on the past 16 years, Ritók described facing continuous attacks, funding withdrawals, and pressure from authorities, including the Constitutional Protection Office, to limit communication regarding poverty. She views the award as a recognition of the Igazgyöngy Foundation's 27-year history rather than personal vindication.
