Matteo Cairoli wins DTM race at Nürburgring

Matteo Cairoli secured his third victory of the season at the Nürburgring, driving an Emil Frey Ferrari. The DTM race was marked by chaotic conditions, with only twelve cars successfully crossing the finish line.

Thomas Preining, driving for Manthey Porsche, finished in second place, followed by Marco Wittmann in the Schubert Motorsport BMW. Despite the competitive field, Cairoli maintained a dominant lead of over ten seconds by the end of the race.

The event was impacted by smoke from forest fires in the Eifel region, specifically from a fire in Hürtgenwald approximately 60 kilometers away. While the smoke created hazy conditions and a distinct smell on the track, drivers reported that it did not significantly hinder their focus or physical well-being during the race.
