NRJ Music Awards 2026: Angèle cancels appearance as Héléna wins major award
The 28th NRJ Music Awards, held at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, saw several notable developments. Belgian singer Angèle announced her absence from the ceremony via social media, stating she was ‘clouée au fond de mon lit’ (stuck in bed) due to illness. While she officially cited health reasons, some reports suggested the cancellation followed the commercial performance of her third album, Instinct.
In the awards categories, Héléna, a former contestant from Star Academy, won the trophy for Francophone Concert of the Year, defeating nominees including Céline Dion and Aya Nakamura. This victory sparked debate among social media users regarding the voting results.
Other highlights included a performance by Star Academy contestant Cameron alongside Eddy de Pretto. Marine, the 2025 female revelation winner, also participated in the ceremony, while Indochine and David Guetta received honorary awards.
