NRL veterans Daniel Tupou and Tyson Frizell announce departures
Following the NRL Grand Final, several veteran players are transitioning away from their current clubs. Daniel Tupou has announced his retirement from rugby league after a 15-season career spent entirely with the Sydney Roosters. Tupou concluded his career with a premiership victory over the Newcastle Knights, finishing as the club’s all-time leading try-scorer with 198 tries.
Meanwhile, Newcastle Knights forward Tyson Frizell has confirmed his departure from the club. After playing his 129th and final match in the Grand Final loss, the 34-year-old free agent is expected to seek a new contract for the 2027 season. The Wests Tigers are reportedly among the frontrunners to sign the veteran forward, who has previously represented both New South Wales and Australia.
