Bavarian Heat Wave Prompts Event Cancellations and Adaptations in Nuremberg Region

A heat wave expected to reach 41‑42 °C in northern Bavaria this weekend prompted the German Weather Service to warn of “strong to extreme heat stress.” In response, numerous large‑scale events around Nuremberg were cancelled or modified. Organisers increased free water stations, provided cooling tubs and scheduled drink breaks, while the city’s health minister urged residents to stay hydrated and look out for vulnerable neighbours.

At the same time, the Police Headquarters of Middle Franconia, together with the city of Nuremberg and Bayerischer Rundfunk, hosted the 14th Landestag der Verkehrssicherheit on Saturday, 27 June 2026, at Jakobsplatz. The family‑friendly programme, running from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., featured a road‑safety campaign, live demonstrations by special‑operations units, entertainment acts and free drinking‑water dispensers supplied by the fire service and N‑ERGIE to mitigate the heat.
