Nørre Vorupør to host Cold Hawaii Games Big Air kitesurfing event

The Cold Hawaii Games Big Air kitesurfing competition is set to take place in Nørre Vorupør on Saturday, September 5. Organizers have confirmed the event following favorable weather forecasts predicting wind speeds of 22-26 m/s and waves reaching heights of 4 meters.

In the Big Air discipline, athletes utilize wind and waves to perform aerial tricks, with the potential to reach heights of up to 30 meters above the North Sea. The competition features elite international kitesurfers, including 16-year-old Danish athlete Maxwell Dahl, and will include six women competing in the discipline for the first time in Cold Hawaii.

Spectators can view the event from a nearly 400-meter-long pier. The event is supported by Sport Event Denmark and follows a specific scheduling protocol where athletes are notified once weather conditions meet the required thresholds for a safe and competitive window.
